Our Pastor

Pastor James Ashcraft
Valley View Baptist Church

Jim grew up in Lee County, Kentucky.  He is married to Deborah, and they have two sons, one also a preacher/pastor, and three beautiful granddaughters.

He came to Valley View Baptist Church as a supply preacher in August 2012 and accepted the church's call shortly after that.

Jim has a Bachelor of Science Degree in geology and ten hours at Southern Theological Seminary toward a Master of Divinity Degree.

He has pastored  for over twenty-five years, served as principal of the Manchester Christian Academy for five years.  He now serving as a bi-vocational pastor at Valley View Baptist Church in Madison County.  He is employed full-time as a mineral assessor (coal property) with the Kentucky Department of Revenue.  He also works regularly as a consultant in the oil fields.

He was saved at nine years of age at a mission church of the Beattyville Baptist Church.  After a couple of  years in college, four years in the military, and going to work in the oil fields, he began dating a young lady that is now his wife.  She also had been saved in another mission of the Beattyville Baptist Church.

He began going to church with her at Beattyville Baptist Church, joined the fellowship,  and was eventually ordained as a deacon.  Sometime later, he received a call to preach.  Beattyville Baptist Church licensed him to preach...and he's been preaching ever since.
